Un Ami Simple

Artist book by Valentin Carron with collages specifically made for his exhibition on the dam of Mauvoisin in Valais, Switzerland, from June 20 to 27 September 2020. For this project, entitled Un ami simple (A simple friend), Carron focused on the image of the mule – an emblematic figure of effort, endurance and phlegm. Nowadays this animal has above all a folkloristic connotation, while up to the1940s, Valais had a herd of more than 2000 animals which transported loads from valley to valley. [publisher's note]
