Shirana Shahbazi. All at once
Iranian-born, Swiss-based conceptual photographer Shirana Shahbazi adopts a differentiated view of our society and its challenges. Her multilayered work, full of bold colours and dynamic forms, establishes fragmentation and layering as a strategy for representing a complex present. Based on her experience of multiple affiliation, she examines the construction of reality, always starting with photography but branching out to encompass diverse of techniques and materials. Shahbazi’s work eschews any obvious categorisation, conveying polyphony as a political stance. This catalogue appears with a solo exhibition of her work at Kunstmuseum Luzern and includes a text by Li Tavor. [publisher's note]
