First published as The Bridge of Lost Desire in 1987, this volume comprises: “The Game of Time and Pain,” in which Gorgik reflects on his campaign to a barbarian boy; “The Tale of Rumor and Desire,” that recounts the life of a Nevèrÿon bandit; “The Tale of Gorgik,” about the main character’s youth; and last, a bonus track: “Appendix: Closures and Openings.”
