L’un des inénarrables « livres illisibles » de Bruno Munari, où, à la place du texte, le papier, ses couleurs, ses découpes, sa séquence, la manière dont le·a lecteur·trice s’empare du volume, créent une forme spécifiique, entre récit, mélodie, exposition, expérience tactile et visuelle, jeu … pour les petit·es et les grand·es !

Nel 1949 Bruno Munari progetta per la prima volta una serie di “libri illeggibili”, opere che definitivamente rinunciano alla comunicazione testuale a favore della sola funzione estetica. Non semplicemente supporto per il testo, la carta comunica un messaggio attraverso il formato, il colore, i tagli e la loro alternanza. Si omettono gli elementi che costituiscono il libro tradizionale, come il colophon e il frontespizio, e la lettura diventa lo svolgersi cadenzato di una composizione musicale, con timbri sempre diversi nell’alternarsi delle pagine.

Il Libro illeggibile MN 1 è stato progettato da Bruno Munari per Corraini nel 1984.

In 1949 Munari designs for the first time a series of “libri illeggibili” (unreadable books), which abandon textual communication in behalf of aesthetic function only. Paper is no longer the support of the text only, but it also communicates a message through the format, the colour, the cuts and their successions. The elements that usually set up a book (like the colophon and the title-page) are kept off, and the reading seems the execution of a melody, with always different tones during the sequence of the pages.

Dominated by visual rarefaction and materials’ experimentation, the production of the “libri illeggibili” has been carried on by Munari all life long. The Libro illeggibile MN 1 was designed by Bruno Munari for Corraini in 1984. [publishers’ note]
