Amazing book by Manfred Pernice, that gathers texts and images related to the making of the works Bibette Headland (1999), Haldensleben (2005), and Hotel Hangelar (2007), that were combined for an exhibition at Museum Ludwig Cologne in 2007. The 3 works “refer to the architecture of bunkers, airport towers and small town neighborhoods. After a decade, it is clear that these three sculptures occupy a central position in the work of the artist. They illustrate Pernice’s long-standing examination of the historical and socio-political contexts of architecture and the aesthetics of everyday life.” The book reads like a project of its own – thanks to its idiosyncratic layout and structure, and to the singular nature of the research.
