The catalogue provides comprehensive insight into the artistic thinking and most important work phase of Mary Bauermeister, who was born in 1934. Accompanied by lavish photo sequences the richly illustrated catalogue presents the artist's living and working environment on her extensive estate with its studio house and garden not far from Cologne. The publication brings together works on paper, material collages, and object boxes from the mid-1950s to the mid-1970s as well as historical photographs from the 1960s, conveying an impression of Mary Bauermeister's events and exhibitions in Cologne and New York. Photographs by Thomas Köster provide insights into her love of collecting and nature. The artist herself shares her thoughts in a conversation with Hans Ulrich Obrist, while the contributions by Regina Göckede, Anette Hüsch, and Hauke Ohls focus intensively on various aspects of the ramified and idiosyncratic work of the now 88-year-old Mary Bauermeister.
